This refers to insurance solutions against financial losses caused by adverse but non-catastrophic weather events such as continuous rain, severe wind or temperature. This means that losses in turnover or additional costs resulting from unfavourable weather conditions can be compensated. However, in contrast to a classic indemnity insurance policy, no proof of damage or expert report is necessary here. Claim assessment is based solely on the measurement values of official weather stations – stipulated in advance – of the German Meteorological Service (DWD).In Europe – and particularly in Germany – the weather insurance market is still in the stage of development.

Energy Efficiency Protect (abbreviated as EEP) has been developed in cooperation with various experts from the insurance industry as well as agencies and service providers concerned with “energy efficiency”. The result is an insurance product for the performance of energy efficiency measures, which offers several advantages to all market players through specific and effective risk transfer.

Energy Output Performance Protect (abbreviated as EOPP) is an insurance solution for a guaranteed energy-output promise, developed by Hannover Re SE and b2bProtect.

An energy service provider can declare an economic efficiency guarantee in the field of renewable energy production to his customers and use the EOPP insurance product to insure this guarantee. The end customer gets a compensation payment if the energy volume guaranteed by the energy service provider is not produced. This guarantee risk is covered by an insurer.
